4. By extending this network nationwide, we aim at dispelling the myths around marginalized groups’ right to access healthcare and highlighting the long-term problems that restrictions may cause.

A user-led network

HEALTHlink is a user-led network directed at professionals & students working with undocumented migrants, refused asylum seekers and other vulnerable groups.

We think that there is a strong need for better coordination and more functional mechanisms to share information about new legislation and restrictions, campaigns, meetings, government consultations etc.

By pooling information through our resources and our forum as well as identifying and linking a broad selection of actors involved in this field, we want to ensure that the right information gets to the right people.

Grassroots lobbying

Through Doctors of the World UK's advocacy project, Project:London, HEALTHlink is extremely active in lobbying government to limit restrictive policies against access to health.

However GP surgeries, walk-in centres & A&E centres are still recurrently refusing patients on biased and misinformed grounds.

This is why, as well as lobbying policy makers, we must direct our efforts towards those implementing the policies to avoid misimplementation by lobbying your local PCTs.
